We had a client submit an insect sample to our office today that was defoliating a row of Japanese hollies. The insect from this sample was identified as a a 'puss caterpillar', the immature stage of a flannel moth. Any of the pyrethroid sprays available to homeowners will kill these. The hairs include some that cause a severe stinging, among the worst of our stinging caterpillars.

Hi,

I am putting together a plan for a downtown farmers' market to be on Friday afternoons from 4:00-7:00 pm. It will be held in Historic Downtown Canton. I would like to know if there are any gardeners who would like to participate or volunteer for this event. I also would like any thoughts or ideas you may have. Thank you so much for your time.
