Using English Ivy
The variegated and light-colored leaves of some varieties are ideal for brightening up dark areas under trees and shrubs. In fact, it is one of the few plants that grows well under trees like maples and beeches.
Using Boxwood
Use littleleaf boxwood as a sheared border for a walkway, to delineate a boundary, accent or surround a space; sort of a miniature hedge. The best container size for boxwoods is 1 to 2 feet in diameter.
Using Rosemary In The Yard
Erect varieties serve as dense hedges or container plants for patios and along sunny walls. What’s more, the small but numerous flowers attract honeybees and other beneficial insects to the yard.
Boxwood, Littleleaf
The Romans first appreciated their qualities, and today they are still one of the most versatile evergreen shrubs, particularly useful for hedges and topiary, or plant sculpture. Size: Most littleleaf boxwoods grow to 3 feet high and spread to 2 feet wide. Some littleleaf boxwood varieties have variegated foliage of green and white.
Using Yew In The Landscape
Japanese Yews are known for their ability to resist dust and air pollution and are ideal for urban sites. Other yard plantings look dreary and dead this time of year, but this effect can be mitigated by the vibrant dark green textures of Yews and other evergreen shrubs.
