Garden slugs and snails are a common problem in Florida and throughout the United States, but they can be controlled. Snails and slugs are members of the animal group Mollusca which includes oysters, clams and octopuses.

Control Slugs Using Insecticides
There are a number of products in local garden centers that use iron phosphate as the active ingredient. Iron phosphate, when ingested by a slug, causes the slug to immediately stop eating and then in a few days it dies.
