As I travel the country, I’m hearing more and more about the shortage of water and seeing the toll it’s taking on lawns and gardens. Just to see how widespread and severe this problem is, I checked out a website that tracks drought conditions.

Soybean rust is a devastating fungal disease of soybeans as well as other garden beans. Although there are other fungal rust diseases capable of attacking beans and peas, the incidence of Asian soybean rust in a Maryland gardener's patch could be an important indicator of the severity of the outbreak and direction the disease is travelling.

Conflicts can occur when a home is not properly sealed, vegetable gardens are not fenced, or food sources for wildlife are scarce during the winter. Groundhogs feed primarily in the early morning and evening because they depend on dew and plant moisture for their water intake.
