Choosing Lawn Grass Seed
Choosing the proper lawn grass is an important basic step to developing a lush turf that you can be proud to display. Lawn Grasses Need Light - While certain types of grasses cope better than others with reduced light, all turfgrasses need a fair amount of bright light or sun to thrive.

Tall Fescue is the ideal grass for Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia lawns
If you want to choose the right grass for this area, choose Tall Fescue. Many lawns are being started in new communities where poor soils are an issue. In other words, a large amount of fertilizer is not necessary to keep your lawn healthy.

Right Grass for Your Region
To assure that your lawn is successful, you must be sure to use the grasses that are suited to your climate and the particular environmental conditions in your region. Grass seed mixtures suited to each of these areas vary somewhat.

Protect Newly Seeded Lawn
Grassfast lies lightly over the seeded area and traps heat and moisture to speed and increase grass seed germination. While it retains warmth and moisture, it vents excess heat, which also increases and speeds seed germination.

Seed Mixtures vs. Seed Blends
Almost all grass seed sold in retail outlets in this country is packaged as a “mixture” or “blend” of seeds of several kinds of grasses. This is because a diversity of grasses insures a broad representation of genetic strengths to keep lawns healthy and vigorous.
