Synthetic Fungicides
As with insecticides, synthetic fungicides are manufactured using chemicals that are produced from other chemicals; they do not come from natural sources. We have included products here in Yardner's Tool Shed that we have researched and believe to be appropriate products for homeowners who have a disease problem and wish to solve that problem with a product that will not harm the ecological balance of their yard and will not be any threat to the health and safety of pets, children and themselves.
Natural Fungicides
We must note that at this time there are no natural fungicides yet on the market that will deal with fungal diseases in the lawn. All the fungicides in this section are effective in dealilng with fungal disease on ornamental plants.
Choosing A Fungicide
They are most useful in preventing mildews and rusts that attack plant foliage from spreading to healthy foliage. There are fungicides made from natural ingredients and fungicides made from synthetic ingredients; both groups are effective if used properly according to their label.
Fungicides for Lawns
Bonomyl® Lawn Fungicide is a systemic fungicide, which controls the spread and prevents lawn diseases. It controls dollar spot, large brown patch, striped smut, fusarium patch, fusarium blight, rust, and snow mold. Provides up to 60 days control.
Control With Fungicide
The significant issue in using fungicides for lawn diseases is that by the time the disease is recognized and the specific fungal cause identified, the infection has usually run its course.
