Composting
Most of the gardening books regale the reader with the importance and wonderfulness of compost. At the same time, with a cursory review of how to make compost, the average yardener may very well balk at the serious time it takes to make an compost of any volume.
Composts
In simplest terms, compost improves the soil so that the plants growing in that soil will be healthier and more productive. Whether it is spread in a layer on the surface of the soil or is worked down into the soil by hand or with a digging tool or tiller, it serves primarily as a soil conditioning amendment.
Compost
Compost is often touted in the gardening books as an excellent soil amendment with all kinds of wonderful benefits, and much of that publicity is true. We use compost when we are planting or transplanting plants; it helps the plant adjust to its new home with less stress.
Composting Equipment

Making Compost
This involves turning the pile of accumulated yard waste every so often to introduce more oxygen into the pile and boost the activity of the microorganisms. However, for yardeners who are looking primarily for a method to deal with their yard waste the passive method of composting is best.
