Spirea
After their glory days of bloom during a brief period in spring or summer, spireas are unobtrusive green background plants in the yard until they drop their leaves in the fall.

Using Goldenchain Tree
The Goldenchain tree makes a lovely specimen in small yards, especially if you have a spot that can use some bright color in late spring and early summer. To add to its flexibility this tree can be trained to grow over an arbor, pergola or other structure.

Forsythia
They are a familiar, early blooming herald of spring, their arching branches covered with yellow blossoms just preceding the emergence of their leaves. Border forsythia (Forsythia x intermedia) is one of the most popular kinds of forsythia.

Three Seasons of Changing Foliage; Resistant to deer and adaptable to many types of soil, the soft pink blooms are profuse along arching stems, complementing the yellow leaves. Very easy to care for and adaptable to stress (including resistance to deer), it is a trouble-free shrub that brings years of ever-changing beauty to the partly shaded garden.

Using Chinese Wisteria
A dead tree makes a good support, but never allow wisteria to grow on a live tree. Container Gardening: Trained as a small tree, wisteria can also be grown in a large container (2 feet wide by 2 feet deep) to lend an elegant touch to small gardens, porches, balconies or patios.
